The Festival Chorus is a non-auditioning amateur choir. We generally give a minimum of three performances a year, Spring, Summer and Autumn, and use professional soloists and orchestra, including traditional instruments where appropriate.
If you are considering joining a choral society, please do come to a Monday rehearsal, meet us and enjoy an evening of singing to give you an idea of how we work. When not in lockdown we rehearse on Monday evenings at 7.45pm in Broomwood Church Hall, Kyrle Road, London SW11 6BD.
A termly payment includes music costs and two tickets to the concert, which is usually held at St Luke’s Church, Thurleigh Road, SW12 8RQ. There are concessions for those under 25, but members who have some financial difficulties may speak to our Treasurer and arrange part/staggered payments. We do not want cost to be a reason you miss an opportunity to sing so please e mail us or ask.
We are a non-auditioning but when you join you agree to abide by our conditions to ensure a professional concert. Singers who wish to perform in the concert must not miss more than three Monday rehearsals. The last two Monday rehearsals and the concert day are mandatory. Registration is required at rehearsals and non-attendees will be asked not to perform. Small choir opportunities exist at most concerts and sometimes these are auditioned, depending on the difficulty of the piece.
