Festival Chorus Special Film Evening with Colin Matthews and Barrie Gavin

Friday 20 April at 7.30 for 8

St Luke’s Church, Thurleigh Road SW12 8RQ

You are invited to a very special film showing of Barrie Gavin’s film portrait of Colin Matthews – Who knows, you can do it,  to celebrate Colin Matthews 70th birthday in 2016. This was premiered at the Aldeburgh Festival but as yet has not appeared on the TV.

Antony Lewis-Crosby will interview them both during the evening

Admission free
but donations of £10 towards the presentation of the film, a glass of wine and nibbles and the planned recording at our concert on 30th June of Colin Matthews Voices of the Air commissioned by the Festival Chorus would be gratefully received

Barrie Gavin is one of the foremost film makers in the UK working internationally. He specialises in films about the arts and particularly music. He worked closely with Pierre Boulez and has made films about Karlheinz Stockhausen, Peter Maxwell Davies, George Benjamin and Luciano Berio among many others. He has also worked with Gerard McBurney in a project with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He is the only filmmaker awarded Honorary Membership by the Royal Philharmonic Society.
